2 ft. x 3 ft. Green Cross flag is printed on 100% nylon with vibrant colorfast dye, seams are hand-sewn with two rows of stitching on top and bottom, four rows stitching on the fly end, finished with canvas header and brass grommets.

On June 29, 1817, Sir Gregor MacGregor, a Scottish born mercenary, adventurer, con man and war hero, lead a group of 55 musketeers to capture Amelia Island from the Spanish. MacGregor and his men raised the Green Cross of Florida flag over Fort San Carlos without firing a single shot. A few months later McGregor would return back to South America to assist with their revolutions leaving his men to handle the occupation. After several months, however, they were forced to leave. After the McGregor effort failed a surviving group of his men threw in their lot with Louis Aury, a privateer under commission by the revolutionary Republic of Mexico. The Amelia Island Flag, Spanish forces erect Fort San Carlos on the island in 1816. Led by Gregor MacGregor in 1817, a Scottish-born soldier of fortune, 55 musketeers seized Fort San Carlos, claiming the island on behalf of the Green Cross.
